after our 2hrs+ climb down 泰山 non-stop, the travel mate and i were totally crippled as we rushed to get our lunch and made our way to the train station - only to have our train delayed by an hour plus. half the day was spent traveling to our next destination. and we did reach 青岛 old church hostel at 2000 totally tired and worn out. but the very pretty, cosy and warm (as compared to the hotel w/o heater up on the mountain) made us feel like we reached paradise. we had problems walking for the next 48hrs. and it probably was the worst case of lactic acid accumulation i ever had in my legs.
青岛
pretty and serene. i like. for a moment we thought... are we in china? the presence of the chinese people and the lack of german cuisine assurred us that we are still in 山东. and just 3 hours away from one of the prettiest cheena mountain we just came from.
our first tourist stop after breakfast.
tsingdao christian church. a pity it wasn't opened on a saturday. even the ticketing booth was closed. but we managed to get into the next church the next day... as they held their sunday service as usual. and it was foc on sundays.
real colourful starfishes. i've never seen anything like these before. this was at the coast of tsingdao. where 栈桥 lies.
red corals on sale.
view from 栈桥. thats 小青岛公园.
a bunch of lulus flying. alrights i think no1 knows wads lulus. seagulls ok.
we made our way to the next stop 小鱼山 where the pagoda lies at its top. it was a fantastic decision to climb up this hill. (after all it was low enough for our legs to take).

jumping shots have been a 'must' these days. and we were jumping in the cold, with our vvvvv worn out legs. no wonder we couldn't walk after that.
view of the 1st bathing beach from the pagoda. pretty eh?
view from the 3rd floor of the pagoda. darn nice. except the strong winds were killing us both. thats the signal mountain right in the centre.
passing by the 1st bathing beach.
and at the 八大关 area.

next stop was quite rubbishy. it was a very famous square in tsingdao. i even forgot whats it called. 四五六广场? or was it 五四六? it has som historical importance to tsingdao.. but oh wells. im bad at history. and seriously... china is too huge for me to remember everything i read.

made a last choice to cab down to the beer museum an hour before ticketing office closes. glad we made it in time! did you know? tsingdao is famous for its beer? im not a liquor person. but tickets to the museum entitles us 2 cups of tsingdao beer, 1 raw 1 draft. :)

the real machines on display.
displaying the world collection of beer.
i thot it was a museum. turns out it is a real factory too.
cheers. we were bloated from 2 cups of free beer. but darn it wasn't good enough to keep was warm from the cold!
bottled beers undergoing UV inspection.
this hut gives one an experience of feeling drunk. it was a good chance to feel what it was like. and we were laughing at the group of angmohs who went in after us. it was funny to monitor how unstable they were inside from the screen.
headed to a famous shopping street (almost like the orchard road, nanjing road in shanghai etc etc) for dinner only to return back to near our hostel for some local delights.
and the next day, we entered the tsingdao Catholic Church. for free. hee. thx to the service.
soooo pretty!!
there was this famous pushcart store that sold breakfast outside, and the uncle very kindly let go of the last 饼 that he probably saved for himself that morning. i think we felt really bad robbing him of his food. and thats part of the reason why i like tsingdao - the people south are really much nicer and refined.
don't you feel happy when every few steps you see buildings that are out of the fairytale books? imagine an entire place of such pretty buildings..
we heard there was this very pretty mountain 崂山 in tsingdao which is a must-see. but the next day our legs still have yet to recover... we felt a tiny bit of pity we could not conquer another mountain. not when it is another 1000m up climb. i cant imagine another 6666 steps up continuously w/o stop. hey after all, im not an athelete k. i dont do sports. and i dont exercise. but one good thing is, china is too big. walking has become a vigorous exercise for me.
after finishing most of the tourist attractions the previous day, we decided on somewhere slightly further. about an hr bus journey away. somwhere we picked randomly. 石老人. good choice. :)
i felt like i was somewhere in australia.. this endless road seems sooooo un-cheena-like.
the golf course and the villa on the way to see 石老人. my gawd. don't you agree this scene is way too pretty to be true.
the locals (or not) went out fishing, prawning, lobstering.
nice weather.
石老人. we found out it was just a lonely rock standing alone in th sea. but being at sea totally rawks. after all. we're short of water here in bj. very short of rivers and the sea.
our 1st seafood meal and last meal in tsingdao. im not sure the photo is showing the actual proportion. but it was darn huge. 16rmb for each dish. full of 蛤蜊. and i got an allergy after that. hahaha. the first time i realise how low immunity can really make you allergic to food that you've never been allergic to before. maybe its overactive immunity instead. i bet my WBC was high.
and our last stop before heading back to the train station.
鲁迅公园. another foc park.
i simply love foc places. and perhaps thats the reason why i like korea so much too. haha. many foc and cheap entrance tickets (even cheaper than bj's).
31st december 2010.
happy new year's eve.
i should be studying.
